The competition, on the theme of Celebrating the 3D Image, is open to both full and part-time learners and involves creating a substantial piece of art, in any medium.
The selected artist will receive funding and the centre is asking entrants to submit an end product mood board by April 1.
Haydn Earl, project manager of Engineering Innovation Network South West said: “We are looking for an artwork around three metres by two metres and it can be in any medium.
We have no expectations at this stage, it really is a blank canvas, and we look forward to seeing some creative ideas around the 3D image. It could even be an image in 3D, which can be blown up to fit the space
“We are commissioning the piece, so funding will be available to complete the art project.”
