Our expert speakers:
10 easy steps to creating a retail telecare market – Keren Down, Chief Executive, FAST (Foundation for Assistive Technology)
The title of this talk is, of course, ironic as cracking the retail market for telecare (and associated assisted living products) has proved anything but easy. However there is some learning coming forward from recent projects funded by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) Assisted Living Innovation Platform (ALIP) that provides useful guidance. The projects’ findings, which will be outlined in this talk, may challenge suppliers to think afresh about how the retail market for these products is likely to develop and how to position themselves to support market development and gain an early market position.
Working in partnership with organisations across the assisted living sector and through work with the TSB, Keren has gained an overview of the barriers and potential solutions to creating new market places and innovative services.
The Memory Technology Library – breaking down the barriers to adoption of assisted living technology – Nigel Harris, Director, Designability and Nina Evans, Research Occupational Therapist, Designability
The library was run in conjunction with Sirona Health and Care and Theraputic Media Company, as a 12 month proof of concept project funded by the Southwest Dementia Challenge.
The aims were to:
*To increase awareness of low cost technology solutions to support cognitive and emotional needs of people living with dementia and there carers
*To make these solutions accessible and discover their impact on individuals and carers
*To create an evidence base around using technology to support people with memory loss or dementia.
