Date: Tue 26th November, 2013
Venue: Engine Shed, Station Approach, Temple Meads, Bristol, BS1 6QH
You are invited to join Insider for a breakfast debate that examines the business of innovation
There is no shortage of big ideas in the South West. Take Dyson’s bagless vacuum cleaners or GKN’s lighter wings for Airbus, as just two examples. Sir James Dyson famously made 5,127 prototypes of his dual-cyclone cleaner before he perfected the design and it nearly bankrupted him. The problem Dyson experienced in the early days still hangs over businesses today. It costs big money to bring ideas to market.
At Insider’s breakfast event, we’ll hear from businesses that have been there and done that. We find out how they put the South West on the map as a hub for research and development. We explore how they make R&D part of their culture and how developing new products, technology or processes is vital to their future success. Ultimately, we’ll find out how innovative companies in the region balance the financial risk with the reward.
